Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner Technical Assistance (SAFEta)

Publication Date:
Abstract: The SAFEta project is designed to provide technical guidance for individuals and agencies utilizing the National Protocol for Sexual Assault Medical Forensic Examinations of adults/adolescents from the Department of Justice's Office of Violence Against Women. While the protocol was designed to lay the foundation for community based responses to sexual violence, the SAFEta technical assistance project is an extension of that effort. This website and all the SAFEta educational offerings are funded through a grant awarded by the Office on Violence Against women, U.S. Department of Justice. The website provides access to exam documents, consent forms, standards and best practice guides, MOUs, sample forms for SANE programs and SARTs, and more. The SAFEta project can assist with questions that arise during the process of developing, implementing, refining, and enhancing victim services in communities. The SAFEta project combines the resources, expertise, and experience of the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) who will provide the technical assistance to service providers and agencies serving victims of sexual assault.
