CollegeAIM: The College Alcohol Intervention Matrix

Publication Date:
Abstract: CollegeAIM was developed by NIAAA to help college personnel choose among the many potential interventions to address harmful and underage college student drinking. The matrix-based tool, guide, website, and related resources are meant to be used in conjunction with your school’s own processes for anticipating and responding to the needs of your student body, campus environment, and surrounding community. CollegeAIM is grounded in a matrix-based tool that evaluates dozens of environmental- and individual-level interventions, allowing users to compare and contrast strategies across a number of criteria. The matrix-based tool was developed with input from leading college alcohol researchers, college student life and alcohol and other drug (AOD) program staff, and NIAAA staff. Additional detailed information on each intervention is presented in summary tables, providing in-depth descriptions to help individuals choose among many available options.
