Transforming Communities: Key Elements for the Implementation of Comprehensive Community-Based Suicide Prevention

Publication Date: 2017
Abstract: Developed based on a review and synthesis of relevant programs, guidance, and models, this paper presents seven key elements for comprehensive community-based suicide prevention. The elements are key considerations that should guide suicide prevention program planning and implementation efforts. Community-based programs, policies, and services can play an important role in suicide prevention, though many communities may not know where to start or what they can do. The seven elements are meant as broad guidance for the field, and can help improve individual, family, and community health. This paper was jointly released with Preventing Suicide: A Technical Package of Policy, Programs, and Practices, another important resource for communities by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
