Abstract:

In this webinar, Andre Le Duc presents the results of the 2016 National Higher Education Emergency Management Program Needs Assessment, discusses the five final recommendations, which were vetted and refined by an advisory committee, and outlines next steps for moving forward. Andre's professional career and academic research are focused on the development of community and organizational resilience. The assessment findings are based on information collected from a survey of emergency management practitioners at institutions of higher education (IHEs), targeted interviews, case studies, discussions at a summit of representatives from IHEs, and input from a project advisory committee. The assessment looked at campus emergency management needs from an all-hazards and all-phases perspective and identified five key themes related to emergency management program needs on campus: institutional engagement, training and exercises, plans and operational continuity, staffing and resources, and partnerships and assistance.
