Building and Assessing Your Physical Security Program

Abstract: This webinar is intended to assist institution of higher education in building a comprehensive physical security program and in assessing current capabilities beyond the use of cameras and electronic access control systems. This includes using crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) practices to identify appropriate territorial reinforcement, campus lighting needs and deficiencies, use of way-finding signage, and community engagement. Dan Pascale, a certified protection professional who is responsible for security and emergency management-related services for Margolis Healy, discusses the components of a physical security program, the importance of understanding your campus and facilities, challenges to creating a program, conducting a campus-wide assessment, policies and standards, management, and sustainability. This webinar is appropriate for all audiences having a role in the planning and development of a campus security program, including campus safety, facilities, information technology, and others.
